Happy New Year, horror writers!
As we step into this fresh year, it’s the perfect time to set goals and establish a routine that will bring your writing dreams to life. Here’s a guide to help you structure your year for maximum creativity and productivity.
Set Clear, Achievable Goals:
Begin by defining what you want to achieve this year. Whether it’s completing a novel, writing a certain number of short stories, or getting published, make sure your goals are clear and attainable. Break them down into smaller milestones to track your progress.
Create a Writing Schedule:
Consistency is key. Set aside dedicated time each day or week for writing. This could be an hour each morning, a couple of evenings a week, or time during the weekends. Find what works for you and stick to it. For me, it was getting up at 5am to write an hour or two every day.
Utilize the Heartbeat Platform:
Our Shadows & Ink Heartbeat community is here to support you. Use the platform to share your goals, get feedback, and connect with fellow writers. The communal energy and encouragement can be a huge motivator.
Refer to Shadows & Ink:
My book, Shadows & Ink, is designed to guide you through the intricacies of horror writing. Use it as a resource to inspire and refine your craft throughout the year.
Consider Joining the Mastermind Group:
For those looking for an extra push, our Mastermind group offers comprehensive support, advice, industry contacts, and resources to help you meet your writing goals. It’s an investment in your career that can pay off exponentially.
Track and Celebrate Progress:
Regularly review your goals and celebrate the milestones you achieve. This will keep you motivated and focused on your larger objectives. Decide now what small or medium reward you will give yourself for each goal achieved.
Stay Flexible and Adaptable:
Life happens, and sometimes plans need to change. Stay adaptable and be willing to adjust your goals and schedule as needed. Don’t blame yourself for external factors, and don’t lose motivation. Just keep moving forward, bit by bit.
Remember, every word you write this year brings you closer to your dream. Use the tools and community at your disposal, and let’s make this year your most successful writing year yet!
Until next time,
